All-purpose flour 1 cup
Salt 1/4 tsp.
Sugar, granulated 1-1/4 cups
Cocoa 6-1/2 Tbsp.
Vanilla 1 tsp.
Milk 1/2 cup
Butter, melted 2 Tbsp.
Brown sugar 1/2 cup
Hot water 1 cup
TABASCO® brand Original Red Sauce 2 tsp.
Vanilla ice cream 16 scoops


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Sift together flour, salt, 3/4 cup granulated sugar and 1-1/2 Tbsp. cocoa. Stir in vanilla, milk and melted butter to make a batter.
  3. Spread batter into ungreased 8"x8" pan.
  4. Combine 1/2 cup brown sugar, remaining 1/2 cup granulated sugar, remaining 5 Tbsp. cocoa, hot water, and Original TABASCO® Pepper Sauce; blend thoroughly to dissolve sugar and cocoa.
  5. Pour sauce over batter and bake 40 minutes until done. As it bakes, cake will rise to the top, while the sauce forms underneath.
  6. Cut into 2" squares and invert each on a serving plate so that the sauce is on top. Serve with 1 scoop vanilla ice cream.
