BEEF CARBONNADE À LA FLAMANDE (BELGIAN DARK BEER STEW)

Ingredients Weight Measure
Beef chuck, diced 1" 3 lbs.
Salt & pepper to taste
Flour 2 cups
Canola oil 1/4 cup
Onions 2 lbs.
Mushrooms 1 lb.
Dark beer 24 oz.
TABASCO® brand Garlic Pepper Sauce 2 Tbsp.
TABASCO® brand Original Red Sauce 1 Tbsp.
Brown sugar 1 Tbsp.

Method

  1. Dry meat with paper towel and season with salt and pepper. Dredge in flour and heat heavy saucepan with oil until the oil is smoking hot.
  2. Add meat to pan and brown thoroughly.
  3. Add onions and mushrooms and cook 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add beer and TABASCO® Pepper Sauces and simmer for 1-1/2 to 2 hours.
  5. Adjust seasonings and serve with potatoes or buttered noodles.
