Ingredients Weight Measure
Diced onion 4 cups
Lemon juice 3/4 cup
Ketchup 4 cups
Worcestershire sauce 1-1/3 cups
TABASCO® brand Original Red Sauce 4 tsp. ( or more to taste)
Water 8 cups (2 qt.)
Chili powder 4 tsp.
Salt 4 tsp.
Brown sugar 3/4 cup


  1. Combine all ingredients and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes.
  2. Serve hot. Keeps well refrigerated.
  3. Variation: For a thicker sauce, whisk 6 tablespoons corn starch into 1/2 cup cold water to form a smooth paste. Whisk this paste into the cooked barbecue sauce until smooth and simmer sauce for an additional 3 minutes to cook and thicken.
