Apple Cake

Ingredients Weight Measure
All-purpose flour 1-1/4 cups
Allspice, ground 1 tsp.
Baking powder 1/2 tsp.
Baking soda 1/2 tsp.
Salt 1/2 tsp.
Butter or margarine, softened 1/2 cup
Granulated sugar 1/2 cup
Brown sugar, packed 1/4 cup
Egg, large 1 ea.
Milk 1/2 cup
TABASCO® brand Original Red Sauce 1-1/2 tsp.
Golden Delicious apple, large, peeled, cored and diced (2 cups) 1 ea.

All-purpose flour 1 Tbsp.
Butter or margarine, cut in pieces 1 Tbsp.
Cinnamon, ground 1/2 tsp.
Walnuts, coarsely chopped 3/4 cup

Confectioners' sugar 1/4 cup
Milk 1 tsp.


  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease 8"x8" baking pan.
  2. To prepare Apple Cake, in small bowl, combine flour, allspice, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. In large bowl with electric mixer at high speed, cream butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg, milk, TABASCO® Sauce and flour mixture. Beat at medium speed until blended and smooth; stir in chopped apple. Spoon mixture into prepared pan.
  4. To prepare Topping, in small bowl, combine sugar, flour, butter and cinnamon until well mixed; stir in walnuts. Sprinkle mixture over top of batter in pan. Bake 45 to 50 minutes until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan or on wire rack.
  5. To prepare Glaze, in small bowl, stir confectioners' sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle over cake.
