Ingredients Weight Measure
White onions, small 8 lbs.
Butter or margarine 2/3 cup
Beef broth 55 oz.
Tomato sauce 32 oz.
Cider vinegar 2/3 cup
Raisins, seedless, dark 2 cups
Sugar 1/4 cup
Dried thyme leaf, crumbled 1 tsp.
Salt 1 tsp.
Bay leaves 2 ea.
TABASCO® brand Original Red Sauce 1 tsp.
Cornstarch 1/4 cup


  1. Peel onions. Cut an "X" in stem ends to prevent onions from splitting. Heat butter or margarine; lightly brown onions.
  2. Add broth, tomato sauce, vinegar, raisins, sugar, thyme, salt and bay leaves. Cover. Bring to boil; reduce heat; simmer 40-45 minutes or until onions are tender. Remove bay leaves. Add TABASCO® Sauce. Thicken with cornstarch.
