McIlhenny Company Presents the 2007 TABASCO® brand
Hottest Chef Contest™
AVERY ISLAND, LA – Professional chefs are invited to make a splash
with their best Mediterranean-inspired recipes for a chance to win a whopping
$10,000 in the 2007 TABASCO® brand Hottest Chef Contest™.
The contest, sponsored by McIlhenny Company, maker of world-famous
TABASCO® brand Pepper Sauce, will award one professional chef a $10,000
grand prize, an assortment of TABASCO® brand merchandise, and recognition
as one of the hottest professional chefs. The contest
is open to residents of the United States and Canada, and also includes
a culinary student category, awarding $2,500 in cash and merchandise
to the winning chef-in-training.
Contest entries must incorporate fresh, easily sourced ingredients
in original recipes inspired by Spain, Greece, Morocco, Italy or any
of the cultures along the Mediterranean coast. Qualified entries can
feature any part of the menu — from breakfast to dessert — and
must include at least one of the following five flavors of the TABASCO® Family
of Flavors: Original TABASCO® brand Pepper Sauce, TABASCO® brand
Green Jalapeño Pepper Sauce, TABASCO® brand Garlic
Pepper Sauce, TABASCO® brand Chipotle Pepper Sauce, or TABASCO® brand
Habanero Sauce.
“We’re challenging professionals and chefs to be inspired by the
bold and flavorful trend as well as the Mediterranean cuisine trend that is
so popular in today’s menus around the world. We’re excited about
seeing creative dishes that celebrate the best of bringing these trends together
and offer a significant prize for the best entries that accomplish that,” said
Billy Boswell, Foodservice Marketing Director for McIlhenny Company.
If entering by US mail, entries must be postmarked
by August 15, 2007.
In addition
to cash and prizes, the winners’ recipes will be featured on TABASCOfoodservice.com
and in all promotional efforts following the contest judging, which
is scheduled to take place on or before September 5, 2007. A judging
panel comprised of President and CEO, Paul C. P. McIlhenny and top chefs
in New Orleans, Louisiana will select the professional and student winners.
This year marks the 139th anniversary of TABASCO® brand Pepper Sauce,
which is now labeled in 22 languages and sold in over 160 countries and
